About Roadschool HQ

The weekly resource for families who teach their kids on the road.

Why We Started

Roadschooling — educating your kids while traveling full-time — is one of the most rewarding and genuinely challenging things a family can undertake. The world becomes the classroom, which sounds wonderful in theory. In practice, it means figuring out curriculum that works without a fixed schedule, finding learning opportunities at every stop, keeping kids on track academically while preserving the freedom that made you leave in the first place, and answering the "what about socialization?" question for the hundredth time.

Most homeschool resources assume a house with a dedicated schoolroom. Most RV resources ignore the kids entirely. Roadschool HQ exists in the gap — practical guidance for families who are doing both.

What We Cover

  • Curriculum Picks — structured, semi-structured, and unschooling approaches that work on the road; what other roadschooling families are actually using
  • Location-Based Learning — turning national parks, historical sites, working farms, and local communities into real classroom experiences
  • Roadschooling Strategies — daily rhythms, handling different ages simultaneously, managing learning during travel days, and keeping kids engaged without burning yourself out
  • Legal & Compliance — homeschool laws by state, what your domicile state requires, reporting obligations, and staying compliant as you move
  • Socialization & Community — finding other roadschooling families, co-ops on the road, extracurriculars, and building real friendships when you're always moving
  • Real Family Stories — honest accounts from families roadschooling kids of different ages, with different approaches, through the hard seasons and the great ones

The Newsletter

Every Monday we send one issue covering the full roadschooling picture: a lead article on curriculum or strategy, a location-based learning idea tied to a current destination, a legal or logistics update, and a story from a roadschooling family in the field. Written by parents who are doing this, not observers watching from the outside.

It's free. It always will be. We sustain this through occasional recommendations for curriculum and tools we've actually used, and by keeping overhead low.

Who's Behind This

Roadschool HQ is published by RV Insider Media LLC, an independent media company focused on practical content for the full-time RV community. We don't have a sponsor's logo above the fold, and we don't sell your email to anyone.
